The children of farm folks. Horse poop on your boots—good for the kids. We had a boarding barn when the babies came along (12- 15 horses). Hubby working long hours away from home. So Mama did the farm work. Cleaning stalls, baby in the carriage. One kid not a sleeper–had her own “stall” in the barn in the evening (not overnight) with her puppies and kittens (not cell phone) to play with. Later our son would spend time in the day outside while I was working with young horses. They all (3 kids) had their chores to do with horses, calves, chickens, goats. And the amazing thing is that none of them has allergies, is not afraid to get their hands dirty and are always the first to offer help to anyone and their kids are all the same. Go ahead … let your kids get dirty on the farm. They are washable. City dirt–exhaust, crappy junk food, cell phones etc. doesn’t wash off so easily.
