Monthly Chi University Episode:  4th Tuesday of Every Month

Description: On the 4th Tuesday of every month, we will dive into the world of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine with the Chi University.  The Chi University is the premier facility in the country for teaching veterinarians Eastern medicine.  The episodes will cover Chinese herbs and treatments passed down thousands of years.

Dr. Allison Marshall graduated UF Vet school 1995 and has lived in VA since then. Chi University degrees - Acupuncture 2005, herbal and Food therapy training, Masters degree 2020.  Also received chiropractic/VSMT training from Healing Oasis in Sturdevant, WI in 2005.   Began as an instructor at Chi in 2010.

Allison runs Full Circle Veterinary Services since 2005.  Her practice limited to just chiropractic, myofascial release, and TCVM (Chinese medicine).  Her practice in the Richmond, Virginia area is quite busy, and she has a mini-practice 3-4 days per month in Maryland.   Allisson is married and has 3 almost grown children.

CHI University: TCVM Tui-na or Bodywork for Equines, for March 26, 2024

Dr. Allison Marshall and Dr. John Langlois have an in-depth discussion today about a branch of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) called tui-na (pronounced twee-nah). This involves bodywork, and from a TCVM perspective would be the precursor and adjunct to modern chiropractic. Drs. John and Allison then interview Dr. Megan Kerford, DVM, a race track practitioner in Maryland about one of the many cases she has used Tui-na to help a horse perform better.

Chi University: Talking Acupuncture for Horses & Dogs, for February 27, 2024

Dr. Allison and Dr. John discuss what we know about how acupuncture works, and explain some of the ways acupuncture has been tested in both humans and horses. It’s journal club time! The doctors also talk about way that you can bring your horse to Chi University to help teach acupuncture labs to other veterinarians and receive a free acupuncture treatment and a free herbal formula specifically chosen for your horse. This episode would be of interest to anyone who would like to know more about how a body responds to acupuncture and acupuncture needles.

Chi University: Neurology & The Ditch Pony, for January 23, 2024

Dr. Allison Marshall and Dr. John Langlois have Dr. Carmen Franck Flippin on the show today, and we discuss two really interesting cases involving neurology and the many clinical presentations of it. Dr. Flippin recounts her amazon story of Ditch Pony, and how she used TCVM to help him not only walk again, but be a fully functional fellow. The doctors talk, more in general about neuropathy, and how it affects other parts of the body such as laryngeal hemiplegia, and how TCVM is very helpful in neuromuscular issues.

Diagnosing and Treating Back Pain, by Chi University, for Dec 26, 2023

Dr. Allison Marshall and Dr. John Langlois will interview Dr. Marilyn Maler of Sun Spirit Farm and Veterinary Services located in Ocala, Florida.  Dr. Maler will be discussing back pain, and her integrated approach to the many presentations of this common source of performance problems.  The Dr.s will discuss kissing spine diagnosis, treatment and, many helpful approaches to things that cause secondary back pain.
