Melbourne Cup Hopes for Return of Crowd

The Victorian government announced that it would allow 10,000 double-vaccinated fans to attend this year’s Melbourne Cup. However, their decision has elicited mixed reactions on social media. The Victorian citizens who have received both their Covid-19 jabs will be allowed to attend the event and enjoy live music within weeks. This will also serve as a large-scale trial of crowd numbers as Victoria prepares for reopening. 2020 Melbourne Cup champion, Twilight Payment will need to carry a top weight of 58 kilos and register a new age record for the win if he’s to replicate his heroics displayed at the world’s richest handicap race. The Team Williams-Owned gelding trained by Joseph O’Brien will be 9 years old to Australian time if he can manage to make it through the racing day at Flemington. However, no horse this old has ever managed to be victorious in the 3200-meter contest.
